Ephemeral Messaging

Messages that automatically disappear after a set time

In Short

Communication where messages are automatically deleted after being read or after a time period, leaving no permanent record.

Explained

Ephemeral messaging ensures conversations don't persist indefinitely. Unlike traditional messaging where history accumulates forever, ephemeral messages vanish - reducing exposure from device theft, legal discovery, or data breaches.

How zkChat Implements This

zkChat rooms are ephemeral by design. Messages exist only in RAM during active sessions. Rooms self-destruct 5 seconds after the last person leaves, or when the expiration timer hits. One-time messages delete immediately after being read once.
